INDIE FOOD FIND: BURGER SHACK

It's gotta be love at first sight for this one! Brought to you by Island Creamery and with its latest addition, burger shack! All things, burger and fries!

Yup, and if you love hearty and wholesome burgers (aka beef!) you have to head on down to Coronation Road. Wow! This place was homely and inviting!

The patties are deliciously juicy, ground and homemade. Burger buns are buttery and soft. Sauces and toppings at your own risks! Furthermore, you can upsize your burgers to a meal. Promise you, the patties will get you mouth-watery!

I knew I have to step right in whenever we drove by the place gazillion times! Who could resist a place this indie, right? And the mission, chomp in to the juicy burger and then decide if you wanna come back again!

Of course!

On my next meal, I gotta ask for caramelized onions and jalapenos on my original beef burger! As for my partner, cheese and caramelized onions for the win! It's great to have a messed up meal at first, 'cos things happened for a reason!

The diff: Original Beef Burger Meal comes with fries and a drink, upgrade to Iced Lemon Tea if you want. Patties taste really nice and sweet. Onions and tomato for original beef burger. While the Ramli (not to be compared to Pasar Malam Ramli burgers, by the way) has a very tangy sauce which I love! Fried egg with yolk that oozes with every bite, patty so tantalizing that you just don't wanna share and ooh, the lettuce so green you just want more of it!

Overall, it was a very nice dining experience! Pretty little homely place and they even have a Print-it-Yourself counter! By the way, they serve Tiger Beer too, if you are a booze lover!

INDIE FOOD FIND: FISHERMAN'S WHARF

The most anticipated food find ever! Fisherman's Wharf opposite Central, Clarke Quay, baby!

My friends had recommended this awesome fish and chips place for ages when I told them where I could find the best one that is not too oily and suffocating!

I tried Fish and Co's Best Authentic Fish and Chips but I didn't enjoy it because it was too huge and had this funky flavour. I can't figure out the odd taste though.

Back at Fisherman's Wharf, we had the Authentic Fish and Chips with homemade curry mayonnaise sauce and tartar sauce. Alongside the main is calamari rings with coleslaw!

At first sight, it looks ordinary but the moment you sink your fork right in, the colour of the cod fish was amazing! White and firm! I watched how Jamie Oliver cooked his British Fish and Chips, I know he used cod fish for his meal because this fish will not crumble apart.

Ooh, the lemon and the sauces complimented one another with this fish and chips. The calamari came off too salty and the herb sauce was a little too strong for my taste buds. It was such an enjoyable meal. Very homely and exactly what I was looking forward to.

Overall, like my friends said, it is the best! On my next visit, Mediterranean Seabass!

COUSINS NIGHT OUT

It's been a while since we last saw each other. It's been such a long time. Meeting one another is like having to travel from one country to another every few months till we meet again.

Each time, it's never complete. No matter incomplete our pictures were, there is always that memories of childhood lives we had.

(Below) Last night's dinner feast at C2K. Two round tables, 20 persons, countless dishes. It was nice, but nicer with everyone present. Without any tinge of jealousy or whatever.

My cousin, Faizal and Lin, went out for a Movie Night tonight! Taking time off after work to catch up with these two lovelies is never a hassle.

Sometimes, I'm just so afraid if one day when the world's gonna end, I will have to split up with the people that I love the most. And if there is ever a restart in life or relive our lives again, I wish I could reunite with the people I love the most again.

BACK FROM A SPLENDID WEEKEND

I've never had a really fine weekend for years and finally, last weekend break was totally relaxing and lovely! Don't be jealous now... :)

We spent the entire weekend staying up late, eating and cleaning up. 

Saturday was a nice dinner gathering with the boys before they jet off to Tekong in June, July, September or October. Imagine, just imagine, when they return from their Basic Military Training? They will be hairless, tanned and obviously, can't stop talking about how life is like in National Service! I'll be the odd one out of course, but hey, who's stopping what! :)

Sunday was magnificent because we did most of the kitchen runs the whole day. It was Yusri's birthday/graduation/pre-NS enlistment luncheon! Okay, exaggeration. In Malay words, it's called Kenduri. In English words, it's called a well-wishes gathering. The best part is that my parents came too! Haha! 

We stayed up till 11 pm to clean up the house. Yusri's mom will be at the hospital the whole day on Monday morning with a relative so she won't be around to clean up. But it's alright! We love cleaning up so we got it going straight at noon. 

The awesome part is that we realized how real we are towards each other. And that's how we loved it.

HAPPY WEEKEND BREAK!

Finally, the weekend is here! No duty this week and I get to unwind and really do some relaxing at home. Well, not the whole day, I will be going out! 

Just to share with you this awesome news about Chanel No. 5's latest Film Ad by director Jean-Pierre Jeunet and starring Audrey Tatou. The cinematography is great, the colour is rich and the feel is romantic.

Though work life is tiring and hectic, there is always so many ways to get your inspiration and creativity back on track! It's the weekend full of random design readings. I know I have lots of work plans in hand but there is something missing apart from the office work chair (in magenta!) and office desk organizers (aka file folders, paper racks, pencil holders + sharpener, noticeboards + magnets & stationery), it's the namecards! 

Oh boy, I wish I could have my personal one looking like this:

I noticed most of my former classmates are pursuing their degree now. My assumption is: It's that easy to enter University, huh? If you're wondering, let me make things clear. I am not interested in any degree courses available out there - YET! Neither do I want to pursue Degree anytime. 

Here are the things that I would like  to do in the next few years or so: 

1. Earn lots of cash for shopping, savings & what-nots
2. Find vintage blazers, vintage designer bags & vintage shades
3. Set up my own business company - a small restaurant & Media and Entertainment
4. I wish to go backpacking in Italy, Japan, Paris & Spain 
5. Educate people (aged 35 and above) about Media & its fundamentals, not the easy way in 
6. Get my own little apartment where I can see lights & feel the sea breeze from my balcony
7. Cash in, cash out and cash in forever and ever
8. Treat my family for a nice dinner and grocery shopping at Cold Storage's Marketplace at Vivocity
9. I need a huge room makeover - with lots of storage compartments & an ironing board
10. Conceptualize a look for less & living small by giving lots 

Perhaps I am the biggest daydreamer of your time. But, I hope in time to come I would fulfil all these things. Even if I don't, I'd probably kill time. Writing fantasy dream travels, clothes, rooms, budget livings, careers and family time. 

Look! Doesn't that sound like it's a magazine? Psssh.

END OF MARCH

Undoubtedly, there is no fucking recession to begin with. The only problem is getting a job is quite hard enough. I am pretty certain that we have all been 'hypnotized' by this poison about global recession which was similar to that during WWII. I smell shit. 

That's the bad news. The good news is, I found this nice piece of note by Madame Vivienne about dressing it up DIY.

FOOD MANIA!

This is a long overdued blog post to start with. 

I think this was last Saturday or Sunday when GST money just came in! Look at that amount of Sushi plate we have here. Oh, Brandon was just enjoying the last piece of sushi. 

We all know that there had been beautiful rainbows the past few days! And sushi plates here look like rainbows in the sky! 

Lame. Yes. But, we are all one happy bunch after finishing off our sushi and then straight off for Starbucks! WOOOO!

And this is also another long overdued one. 

Yusri and I were walking around at Central when we saw this cute little pancakes/donuts! Awesome stuff at Central I tell you! 

I know I know! 

I'll grow fat! 

But no.... I still look fabulous! Don't believe me? Ask my boyfriend, he loves me! :D

I WISH I WAS ON CLOUD NINE

Now, it makes me want to eat out often than usual. Wait! I always eat out nowadays, and not eating at home at all. Why? Simple, nothing excites my tastebud at home. Everybody's too busy and even when I get to eat something, it just so happened that I'm hungry.

I'm not a fussy eater though. Food is just a need and not a want. Home is where your heart is. But where am I?

Nowhere. I'm not too sure. Eating out is a pleasure. You don't really need to worry about making the wrong mistakes, whatsoever. My point is, I dislike being at a place where effort in doing something isn't there because when I cook at home, I really cook it with love. Why? Because it is about caring for the people in the house.

My household is a mixture of busy/lazy/instant.

To me, I want meals that really take a lot of heart and soul to begin with.

Right now, I'm ultimately craving for lemak chili padi ayam, urap, mee goreng, mee soto, roti kirai/jala/renjis and thick malay chicken curry.

If I can really do it, I would do it full-heartedly. All the flavours will be present. No 'tawah-hebeh' or too salty/sweet. It should be perfect. Please, let me master all those traditional dishes, pleaseeee.....

MACARONS ARE LOVE

They look so pretty! I know, I know! I blogged about macarons before but I just can't help looking at these babies. Macarons are small, round cakes, crisp on the outside, smooth and soft in the middle.

Not to be confused with macaroons, by the way! Or these pastries hailed from Morroco or Spain. These babies came from France!

In the 1830's macarons were served two-by-two with the addition of jams, liquiors, and spices. The macaron known today is the "Gerbert" macaron, born in the 1880's in the Beleville neighbourhood of Paris. The double-decker macaron filled with cream that is popular today was invented by the French pâtisserie Ladurée.

These are so lovely, you just don't wanna eat 'em! Perhaps shops that sell macarons might have discounts for Valentine's Day! Perhaps, for Hari Raya serving macarons are cuter than kuih makmur. HAHAHAHHAA!!!!!!

IT'S A SIGN! ON THE GROUND

We were riding on the bus the other day when Yusri noticed the road name signage uprooted. I said: "Eh, jom ar bawak balik!" (translation: Come, let's bring it home!) but he scolded me for my nonsense. I got hurt but... When we past by the place again last night, I realized how nonsense my suggestion was! HAHAHAHAHA! Yes, I'd say: "Amik ar kau!" (translation: Take it ah!)


Notice how tall it is? Or should I say, heavy?
In my head, I thought it was just the plate but no, the whole pole! Who would want to take that whole damn thing home? If I had my own truck, I would, man!

I would lie down next to him too if I had a camera with a timer!

And, we had this great double chocolate cake for dessert last night at Horizon Causeway Point. To those who had been there before, remember the Malay stall that sells Ox Tail soup? It had converted into a cute little cake shop. I guess they were aiming for a nice Parisian cafe but it didn't worked out.

The cakes, breads, muffins, gingerbread man and pies looked so gorgeous. They did quite well, though.



My eyes were focusing only on the double chocolate cake which the patrons next to us were eating. The piece of cake was huge, with a nice cheese cream in the centre. The little garnish on the plate adds a pleasing factor to the price. We were quite upset that the presentation would have been prettier with a nice white square plate.
The next time you'd want a quick and light dessert, go for the one at Level 5 Horizon Causeway Point.

Our pick: Double Choc Cake was delicious for its airy and fluffy feel of the cake. Our first impression was that we thought the cake might be hard, like brownies with walnuts but the moment we sank our fork into the cake, the fluffiness awed us. The first bite was awesome and to finish the whole cake, all we ever wanted was another piece of it. At just $2.90 and a presentation like that (quite sad that it's on their usual foodcourt plate) who would resist the temptation? :)

THINK AGAIN!

Just one word.

KACHING!

This is one simple post. My eyes are just on the cash. My mind is on the money. And money is the invention of the devil. I can't help it. Money is the sole purpose I need to move on. Yes, that's right! To move on, be happy and throw some in the air or roll around in it.

Please God, show me some signs. Give me some cash. I need to pay my dues quick and revamp my wardrobe, room and groom myself!

Yes please, bring truckloads of them! Yessah!

HUNT HUNT HUNT

I would be toothless if I continue munching on these beary good stuff at home. These are my mama's Christmas goodies she received from her colleagues.

On the right, Pooh Bear Squares from Tokyo Disney Resort.


Honey & Oats Crumbles didn't crumble at all, kinda soft/lemau/lao hong (you know what I mean) but it definitely are addictive! I love the smell of the oat and with each bite, you could taste the honey. It almost tastes like disgestive biscuit but this is totally scrumptious!

And the Pooh Bear Squares comes in a nice brown Pooh Bear packaging. This is a total opposite of Honey & Oats. This one is crunchy and smells caramel-ish and tastes light. I kinda mistaken the smell for coffee or hazelnut. I'm bad at descriptions, thank you.

The point here is I wanna buy these biscuits. I tried looking it up online but urgh! To no avail.

I definitely want it!

SWEET TOOTH

Apologies for all the images of desserts, I just couldn't help it! Macaroons are nice to look at but the taste is too sweet for my own liking. Just like macaroons, desserts look so nice to eat but it's so hard to make.

Oh hello sweet treats, yummy... Dessert tables at the wedding will never look this heavenly. Meringues, White Chocolate bars, feathers, cookies and cupcakes. Let's not make it cliche, please.

I SAW THAT PRETTY BOTTLE

You might think that an item such as this is not worth your time but I am so gonna get this for X'mas! It's that same bottle by Evian designed by Jean Paul Gaultier! The instant I saw this divine bottle on the shelf, I couldn't get my mind off and my eyes away from it. The only obstacle now is cash - priced at just SGD19 only!

WEE HOURS

These past few days, I've been too active for bed and my body would tell me that it was still too early to sleep. I would still be up at 3am and still think that it is 11pm. Too normal eh?

As for tonight, I had just came back from supper at Jalan Kayu after intense test shooting at SengKang from 8pm to 12.30am. Intense!

I'm proud at how Yusri worked with his team mates and I really hope for the best in this production. :)

So, as I was saying, my eyes are still quite awake. I have to get up in 8 hours time!
